Axalta Coating Systems was recognized for its contributions to the Toronto 2015 Pan American (Pan Am) and Parapan American (Parapan Am) Games at the Town of Ajax’s Annual Sponsor Recognition Ceremony on April 11, 2016. The Pan Am Games are the world’s third largest international multi-sport games and the Parapan Am Games consist of multi-sport competitions for athletes with a range of physical disabilities. The games were a major event in the greater Toronto area in July and August of 2015. The Pan Am Games brought more than 6,000 athletes to compete in 36 different sports, while the Parapan Am Games brought more than 1,600 athletes to compete in 15 sports. Axalta painted and proudly displayed a 15-foot tall Pan Am Games logo on its water reservoir, which was clearly visible from Canada’s busiest highway. The company also hosted a networking session to attract business investment opportunities to the region and encourage partnerships with business leaders from Pan Am countries. Last week, In recognition of these efforts, Town of Ajax Mayor, Steve Parish presented a plaque to Axalta representatives Paul Chaney, Plant Manager-Ajax manufacturing plant and Andrea Bisenberger, Human Resources Manager at the ceremony. “The Town is very grateful for the support from our business community leading up to and during the 2015 Pan Am Games,” said Mayor Parish. “Axalta has been located in Ajax since the Town’s inception, and we are thrilled to recognize their support and contributions to the 2015 Pan Am Games and Ajax community.” “We are extremely proud to have promoted not only the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, but also our home, the Town of Ajax,” said Chaney. “We have an excellent relationship with the Town and could not be happier that 2016 marks our 60th year here, in addition to Axalta’s 150th anniversary.”
